Cell Phones and Other Two-Way Electronic Devices

It is important for parents and students to be fully aware of the cell phone policy at Harry Ainlay. For a number of years, our policy has been “Cell phones must be turned off and out of sight inside the school”. There are a number of reasons for such a strict policy. The first and most important concern is security. Two-way electronic communication, whether it be through phone conversation, text messaging, down loading of information or photograph transmission, poses a real concern to us all. Therefore, student cell phone communication has no place in instructional or non-instructional areas of the school. There are two pay phones in the school and a phone in the office that may be used for emergency situations.

As inside many public buildings, the disruption caused by accessing cell phones is simply not respectful. If students wish to access messages or use their cell phone, they must do so by going outside the school. We appreciate the support from parents in helping our students use their cell phones responsibly so they do not lose the privilege of having these devices in the school.

Card playing policy:

  • please refrain from card playing in the school
  • gambling of any kind is strictly prohibited
